Suzanne Somers became a household name after her debut as Chrissy Snow on Three’s Company, where she captured hearts across America. Sadly, the iconic actress and spokesperson passed away on October 15, 2023 at the age of 76.

One of Suzanne Somers’ most well-known homes was located in Palm Springs — a huge desert compound that she shared with her husband Alan Hamel before they sold it in 2021. The sprawling estate sits on the mountainside in Mesa Canyon and consists of five separate buildings on a whopping 28-plus acres of land. Luckily, many of Somers’ personal design touches, such as natural stone and reclaimed wood, can be found throughout her former home. Let’s take a tour of Suzanne Somer’s enchanting former home, shall we?

Inspiration From France

The property’s design was modelled after the L’Oustau de Baumanière in Provence, France. The couple managed to tastefully combine this French-inspired elegance with nature. Most rooms on the compound share a contrast of rough natural stone set against smooth wooden elements, with crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceilings as the perfect accents.

The Gourmet Kitchen

The main building houses a large two-room gourmet kitchen equipped with wooden cabinets, stainless steel appliances, steel countertops, a large fridge and a Dynasty gas stove range. The kitchen is clearly fit for cooking lavish meals and is far from rustic.

A Nature-Inspired Primary Suite

The main building also features the primary bedroom (and six other bedrooms!). There is natural stone flooring throughout the bedrooms, which is the perfect contrast to the bright white stone walls and wood shiplap ceilings. It’s both cozy and airy, which we think Somers would have found very relaxing.

The Stone Guest House

One of the most intriguing additions to the home is the guest house that was made from stone by Albert Frey in the 1920’s. In addition to breathtaking stone walls, the room boasts a luxe clawfoot soaking tub that’s literally steps away from the bed.

Romance on the Grounds

The home’s exterior consists of numerous walking paths set against the breathtaking mountain views, meaning exercise will never get boring. There’s also two pools on the property, one of which is more private and tucked away, along with plenty of patios for entertaining guests. And last but not least, there’s a romantic outdoor bathtub that we’re sure Suzanne was fond of.

More Enchanting Details

Other gorgeous amenities within the desert compound include a huge pantry, nine bathrooms, an extraordinarily large dining room that seats 24, a wine cellar, an outdoor amphitheatre that’s carved into the mountain, a dance floor, a spa and a private funicular that takes you up the hillside of stone steps right to the main house. Talk about luxe living in the desert!
