Solo living in Thunder Bay may be the most affordable option for singles in Canada. If you’re looking to own a home without draining every last penny, Forbes says Thunder Bay is the cheapest place in the country to buy a house. It’s the perfect place to live alone affordably, with stunning views of Lake Superior and a friendly small-town vibe to boot. For that reason, Thunder Bay offers singles an affordable haven to escape to without breaking the bank.

Calgary is the ideal place to be a young single: its growing nightlife and bar scene contributes to a lively social scene and offers ample opportunities for people from all walks of life to mingle. But the best part? A recent census report from the city says that a significant portion of the population is composed of young professionals, which creates a dynamic environment for socializing and networking.

Quebec City, QC

According to a report from Point2Homes, a whopping 32.2% of Quebec City’s population reported being single. The trend checks out with provincial stats too — a 2021 census data report from Statistics Canada also showed that the province has the highest proportion of individuals aged 15 and older living alone within Canada. So if you’re moving to Quebec City or visiting solo, you definitely won’t feel alone here!

Toronto is Canada’s largest city, but that’s not the only appeal it has. Any single person will thrive in this booming metropolis — it offers numerous multicultural neighborhoods like Kensington Market and Greektown, plus its youthful workforce ranks it as a top city in Canada for young people to work and find a robust job market.
