We all know the saying: It’s not about how you start, but how you finish. However, when the last 10% of your project takes over 18 years to complete… it’s a problem. Located on a stunning peninsula on Paradise Point, Connie and Todd’s family cottage had been cherished by their family since they built it nearly two decades ago. They enjoyed their cottage so much that they had started making the most of it before the build was complete. While never having a finished product to rejuvenate, it was clear that the property was due for an update. That’s where Scott McGillivray came in. Alongside Debra Salmoni and his team, Scott got to work to make Paradise Point luxe, leisurely, and lucrative.

All About the Deck

Todd and Connie’s back deck had seen better days. However, one thing that didn’t diminish over time was its incredible view of the lake. The team was all hands on deck to provide the family with a space fitting of the scenery. By redoing it in a more modern and durable composite, they ensured safety, longevity, and timeless design. Now guests and family alike can enjoy the settings without a worry.

Luxurious Lounging

When owning any property, especially a rental, it’s important to capitalize on its best features. This cottage had done that with its incredible, large windows overlooking the lake. It was just the view of the indoor decor that needed to be brought up to match. New engineered vinyl flooring, coupled with stylish furniture, and finally adding contrasting black trim took the room from run-down cottage to palatial parlor.

Bedroom Bliss

Like the rest of the house the primary bedroom was mostly done and mostly great. Fortunately, mostly is never enough for Scott and the team. In order to take this space to another level, they wanted to add elements of design to tie the room to the rest of the spaces. The answer was obvious; exposed beam work to match the rest throughout the home. It created a sense of cohesion that makes the home all the more opulent.

Entertaining Eats

When away with family or friends you want to spend that time connecting. Debra wanted to make sure that guests would be able to connect at all times, especially during meals. To make sure the space was conducive to just that, she had an open-concept banquette installed. Not wanting to stop simply at functionality, she accented the wall behind it with shiplap in a relaxing charcoal tone.

Sunny Side Up

Of all the property’s stunning qualities, there was one above all that was being underutilized, the sunroom. Once crammed full of the family’s excess storage, now it serves as one of the cottage’s most enticing features. As great as decks are sometimes, the weather isn’t conducive to being outside. It was for that reason that the team outfitted the space in a stunning black and white contrasted palette. Now, come rain or shine, guests can enjoy the stunning scenery of Paradise Point.
