There isn’t much that makes a day job more fun than a work bestie. Having one can make even the most boring of days a total blast. Here at Home Network, work besties Scott McGillivray and Bryan Baeumler have been entertaining audiences, and themselves, with some good old fashioned highjinx for years. And with another season of Renovation Resort under their belts, they’ve had a lot more bonding time. We wanted to put that bond to the test with our very own bestie quiz. So, let’s see what stories these two have for us in our Home Network bestie quiz.

Describe Each Other’s Design Style
“Simple, clean, modern.” Scott said quickly about Bryan’s style.
“Oh really? Oh, that kind of style.” Bryan had been ready to critique Scott’s wardrobe but switched his answer before giving us any of his fashion advice “Scott’s then is planned, what’s that word for–”
“Amazing” Scott offered.
“No, like being financially responsible… fiscal, and I would say more traditional.”
One Design Risk that Paid Off
“Well he went bohemian.” Scott considered.
“Bahamian.” Bryan pointed out.
“Right, Bahamian definitely paid off for him.”
Bryan took a little longer to think on his answer. “He copied me, that really paid off for him.” Bryan teased. “I don’t think we take a lot of big risks in design, moreso on the investment side of things.”
Their Favorite Room to Design
“Bryan’s favorite? Definitely the garage.”
“I agree, definitely the workspace, the basement, the garage, I think it’s an overlooked space for a lot of people. It’s a mental health space. As for Scott, maybe the sewing room, the craft room.”
“The craft room?” Scott questioned while Bryan chuckled.
“No, Scott likes to entertain, he’s a little more sophisticated than I am socially. So, it’s kind of the area between the kitchen and the living room, common spaces.”
Biggest Difference in Approaching Projects
“Bryan is a ready-fire-aim kind of guy. You wanna do it? Let’s go now.” Scott continued.
“While I’d be asking ‘is this a good idea?’ it’s already too late, the truck is on its way. It’s already happening. I am a little more selective—one of Bryan’s great features is that he’s super passionate. Even when it’s a bad idea, he’s passionate.”
Bryan quickly chimed in, “Like filming a show with Scott. I was super passionate about not doing it, but I’d already signed the paperwork.”
What Would They Do if They Weren’t Working in Renos?
“If Bryan wasn’t in the real estate renovation space I think he would be a fishing tour guide.”
Bryan was surprised to hear this, his mind was in the sky. “I was gonna say pilot.”
After a few moments, Scott doubled down and responded, “Maybe, but I think you’d be on a boat more than on an airplane. You love the adventure, away from shore.”
“If Scott wasn’t in renos, I could see chartered accountant.” Bryan said in return.
“That’s not a bad one, I’ve considered it. I love the numbers.”
What Are You Certain You Could beat them At?
“Fishing.” Scott declares proudly.
Without missing a beat, Bryan debated. “That’s hit or miss though, you could get unlucky.”
“Race car driving then.” Scott replied just as confident.
“I think we’d be pretty even in race cars. We might crash into each other and destroy the cars.”
“Yeah, I wouldn’t let you win..”
“A beauty pageant, Scott might beat me at that.”
“What about a dance competition? I think, no matter what it is, we’d be competitive. We’re very competitive.”
Even as our interview ended, the two of them continued to joke with and tease the other. We’re not quite sure how to score a Bestie quiz, but it’s pretty clear that these two long-time work besties passed with flying colours.
