Location is key to any property, but when that property is a storefront it’s crucial. For Kat and Kevin, their investment property had it, it was the rest of it that was lacking. With a storefront on the main level and an abundance of square footage above it, it was all potential. The problem was extracting that potential. The two wanted to turn their c storage into a luxe open concept inn. That’s where Scott McGillivray and Debra Salmoni came in to save the day.

Less Than Lavish

There is such a thing as a good problem. One example of this is having too much storage space. It’s great to have it, but we always seem to find a way to fill it. So, when Kat and Kevin’s property sat vacant, it did just that; filled up. Hoping to give it a better (and more profitable) purpose, they called in Scott and Debra. Immediately they saw the potential of the property. Located along a shopping center, with ample space and waterfront views, it was a diamond in the rough.

Olive the Green You Want

Since the building had so much old character, Debra made it her priority to showcase just that. That being said, the space still needed to function well. They wanted guests to have all the amenities they might need. For that reason, they installed a full laundry room, so guests can function as if at their own home. They paired the exposed brickwork with olive green beadboard, making the space feel both timeless and contemporary.

Keeping a Green Theme

Kat and Kevin, as well as the team, wanted to create a property that felt well thought out. It was important that all the rooms felt connected while still giving them their individual purposes. Scott and Debra felt the best way to achieve just that was through consistent colours and tones. So, throughout the spaces, they utilized a green and white palette, using slightly different tones of green to differentiate rooms and keep the designs feeling fresh. Now, thanks to the end result, we’re all green with envy.
